Love it or hate it, there’s no escaping technology. For most of us tech is an important part of our lives and it’s constantly evolving, both in what it does and how it’s used.
Yet despite its pervasive nature there’s still a lingering perception in many parts of the world that technology is mainly for men. At Nokia, this perception is something we’ve been working hard to change. By creating innovative devices and solutions, which are not only super simple and fun to use but also makes our lives a whole lot easier, our aim is to help everyone enjoy the benefits of technology – regardless of gender or nationality.
Another way for us to achieve this is by co-operating with other organizations that share our philosophy. This is why we’re partnering up with the Thomson Reuters Foundation, the philantrhopic arm of the global news and information provider. Next month, between December 3rd and 4th, the Thomson Reuters Foundation, in conjunction with the International New York Times, is putting on the Trust Women Conference in London. The aim of the conference is to trigger change across the globe by helping women to know and defend their rights. Trust Women builds partnerships and is geared to action. Nokia is proud to be the technology sponsor of the event.
So how are we contributing? Well, as an innovator and advocate of technology that aims to empower people across the globe, our partnership with the Thomson Reuters Foundation is a natural development.
Smartphones for smart women
With women in the developing markets often managing their household’s finances on a tight budget, introducing technology to help them is paramount. And it’s something Nokia takes very seriously. The affordable range of Nokia Asha smartphones, specifically developed to help connect the next billion, has already contributed to narrowing the technology gap between men and women in many parts of the world.
But there’s still plenty of work to be done. By getting involved with the Thomson Reuters Foundation and the Trust Women Conference, we hope to help people better understand the incredible power mobile technology has to make a real difference.
